My dad sent me a you tube video that I just have to share. If you don't like well that is your choice but I don't want to hear your negative comments. That is if I can get it to post.

Can't believe its snowing in march. Everyone is ready for warmer weather including the little group of deer that keep on darting across the road infront of our house.

I finally got my braces off yeahhh! I now have an annoying wire bonded to the back of my top and bottom front teeth. I dont really notice the bottom but my tongue just wont leave the top wire alone grrr. I'll take pic's and post later.Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-14046285318473230642007-11-21T12:11:00.000-07:002007-11-21T12:15:25.917-07:00Hopefully I will be done soon. One of the assistants said maybe by Christmas. Now he is trying to get my bite right. He got my teeth straight but then my canines flared out everytime I bit down. owiee. He widened my uppers but then my molars weren't close enough together so now he is trying to get them to touch all the way again. I'm a trouble maker I tell ya. I'll try to remember to post some current pictures soon. I have to download them to my computer and my card reader has been having problems lately.Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-11102659689081528422007-09-10T19:13:00.000-06:002007-09-10T19:39:13.467-06:00
Opps didn't realize how long its been since I last posted. The retainer that I got for my top teeth did finally straighten out that top tooth next to the canine. The only problem was that it was quite a bit shorter than the other teeth. You can see that if you look at the last few pictures I posted. So my orthodontist being the nice guy he is put braces on the top teeth at no charge. Did I say he was a nice guy? He really is. This was all oh a few months back. He has kept the bottom brackets on now because he says he has to keep them on to move with the uppers so my bite will be good. I'll try and get pictures with this post but mini me always requires my attention , especially if I'm trying to do anything on the computer

. ok so luckily my dig pic's are date stamped. This pic is from July. I thought that I took more pictures than I actually did this last couple of months. I think that I actually got them on the end of may/begining of june. I'll take more soon and post them. My upper tooth next to the canine pulled down nicely. Not sure how much longer I have left. They look a whole lot straighter than they did after the invisalign. The first wire hurt some but not as much as the aligners did. Then the second wire HURT really bad but its alot better now. My son just got rubber bands on his. He is soo happy about it, says his teeth feel great! BBAAAAhhh just kidding he hates them. He says his teeth dont meet anymore and they hurt really bad for probably over a week. I dont have the posts on the back brackets like he does only on my canines so I highly doubt I will have to wear bands. They would have to either put more brackets on since they don't go all the way to the back molars or they would have to replace the last bracket with ones that have the rubber band posts. ha ha pssss. I'm such a nice mommy :)

Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-90955035759824372762007-04-21T10:26:00.000-06:002007-04-21T11:06:30.502-06:00The first picture was taken 2/27/07 and it shows me trying to bite down. I just went to the orthodontist yesturday for my monthly "tightening" , which is actually just getting a new wire put in and new little colored bands. This time I chose metalic green, pretty ey. The second picture was taken this morning. I'm able to close my mouth just a bit more. I found out yesturday that my molars should be touching. hmm. He said he will have to work on that. I thought it was just the bottom brackets keeping them from touching. I have no idea how much longer I have to wear them for. I have to wear my top retainer during the day as long as I have the braces on the bottom. Then as far as I know I only will have to wear the darn thing at night.

This is today bottom view.Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-70142330489376181662007-03-09T19:50:00.000-07:002007-03-09T20:40:03.514-07:00Sorry this took so long to update. The end of Dec, when I got off work my right knee was hurting. I got home and went to bed and when I got up I couldn't walk on that knee and I had to crawl up and the stairs and scoot down on my bottom. I got into the doctor and he thought it was my knee cap. Both my knees appear to be pulled inward on both legs but only my right one hurts. He wanted me to do 4 weeks of physical therapy , wear a knee brace and take aleve for 4-6 weeks. To make a long story short, the physical therapy didn't help at all and my knee hurt worse after all this then when I started. I was almost constantly sick to my stomach from the pain. My physical therapist thought that I might have actually torn my medial meniscus. I went back to the PA (would have taken a month to see one of the doctors). He said he still thought it was my knee cap. He gave me a shot of cortisone and told me to see him in a month. I called my chiropractor who said he would order a MRI for me if I wanted. I said please Dr smith may I have an order for a MRI. I went in and the MRI said that I had a very large baker's cyst behind my knee and that it was highly suspicious for a medial meniscus tear. I got into one of the doctors at the orthopod (pod people they are :) ) He thought I had torn the horn of my medial meniscus and referred me to one of the surgeons. The surgeon said that it could be my knee cap or possibly a tear but wouldn't say either way. He said he has been burned before when he's done a scope and thought there was a tear and didn't find one and visa versa. He said we could try a synthetic synovial fluid and if its my knee cap it would lube the joint up and make it feel alot better or he could scope it and if there was a tear snip it out, if its a rough spot clean it up and also (probably ) do a release (that would put me out of commission for a few weeks. ecks). My husband wants me to try the shot first. The nurse said that if its a tear it will be act like a cortisone shot (took a week to work and by the second week felt like it had just about worn off -in other words won't help worth a poop). now I'm just waiting for the insurance to authorize- if they will. kinda a crap shot ey. Can't really afford a scope right now anyway. Not after all the physical therapy charges. ouch. that was $120-166 a VISIT for 4 weeks at 3 times a week! All I can say is thank you God for insurance and my flex/medical savings accounts.

Ok now back to the brace face story......

Here is my retainer. If your a gagger this will really suck for you. It goes way back in my mouth. Took me a while to get use to it. It's kinda hard to chew with the bottom brackets on. See how my molars don't touch. Yes I take out the retainer when I eat. Doesn't make any difference on how close my molars are. Don't know what that bended section is all about. As you can see from the past pic's its new. My tops look pretty good but he is going to get me a retainer that I pick up Tuesday that has little springs in the back, on the outside edge of each of those teeth next to the front. Then he is going to sand one of the front on the bottom to make them look more even. If you haven't noticed already he put brackets on the bottom because the invisalign was unable to push back one of the teeth next to my bottom canines and neither canines twisted like they were suppose to. They feel weird, but not too much different than the bottom aligner because that one ballooned out across the bottom front and back. So bad in fact that I got a canker sore in my lip in front of the bottom. The difference is that I can't take them out to eat and my molars don't touch when I try to bite down. My ortho said that will change in about a week when my teeth get use to them. You can see what I mean about the tooth next to the front (left side on the pic) not twisting straight enough. Ortho thinks the spring thing attached to the retainer will be enough to straighten the tooth out a bit more.
Not sure how long I will have to wear the brackets. I go back in three weeks so we will see.Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-32729906987986663422006-12-30T18:41:00.000-07:002006-12-30T20:12:13.651-07:00After many tries and going back and forth in my pic files I finally got a progression of my aligners. Woke up and oh my goodness. My teeth hurt oh oh oh. It doesnt help that I keep pushing my top teeth against my bottom teeth. Doesn't hurt until I release the pressure. I'm trying to push against that "bubbly" gap on to of the bottom tooth that sticks out a bit. My tops don't really hurt that bad. It is just kinda sore on the second tooth on the top (my other "offender") It also has a bit of a gap on the bottom but not as bad as the bottom. Oh man do I have a tiny blond goatee?? Or is something stuck under my lip. oh my how embarassing. nahh could be black , now that would be embarassing.

I hear how some people get drooly. I really haven't been. Actually my mouth has been pretty darn dry and my lips keep on sticking to the aligners. Like plastic vacuum lip suctioners. I'm really not baring my teeth at you, just unsticking my lips. I think I have like 20 mint lip balms around the house because my lips get so dry. babble babble babble. I think I'm babbling again.

I asked my husband for a new dig camera for Christ-X (yes I'm a rebel and I would rather take the mas out of Christmas then Christ). I even circled the add and added a coupon hee hee. It's ok if he doesn't get it, its only an object, but I would really love it. hee hee. It's a sony cybershot. Any comments on that model? I looked on amazon and everyone who commented on it liked it.
Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-5151891104128522152006-12-04T11:12:00.000-07:002006-12-04T11:42:16.817-07:00 Here is a pic of my first aligner (top ones) and my 7th aligner (bottom). They must like each other ALOT. Anyway, the one on the left is my before and the one on the right is after I had in the 7th aligner in for about a week. My upper like my bottom is starting to get more of a wider U shape to it. Like the bottom I have a top tooth (the offending one is the one with the dot filling in it) that just doesn't want to turn easily. Found out that all the metal in my mouth wasn't caused by poor brushing or eating habits as child. Apparently my molars didn't want to form correctly and so I had small holes in them when they popped out of the gums. The dentist told my mom he had to treat them as cavities and fill them or else they would turn into cavities. This wasn't a huge shock to me about the not fully formed teeth as I have another part of me that didn't want to fuse together and form one whole part. Lets just say I'm lucky to have a couple of rug rats running around and breaking things around the house.
Sorry it took me so long to update this. I was kinda shocked when I looked and realized it had been over a month. sorry guysPennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-5537251900716400022006-10-23T08:35:00.000-06:002006-10-23T08:56:18.614-06:00Put in my 5th aligner Sunday (yesterday) and boy does my mouth hurt. This one is one of the most owwiest aligner. In the pictures below I don't have the aligners in either of them. The one on the left is my before invisalign and the one on the right is 24hours after putting in my 5th.
Now I'm on number 5 out of 10 aligners!! yeahh!
My bottoms are starting to straighten out. The bottom aligner hurts right now. Its really pushing that tooth on the bottom left back and its really tender. When I first put it in it had a big gap on the top of the tooth. I just chewed on an aligner chewie and now its fits a little better. Pedro really was having a bad day at the factory when he cut this one. My tongue hurts. Along the side on the bottom its still trying to cut up my tongue even after I clipped the part that sticks out a bit between the back two molars. I really dislike the taste of blood. yuck yuck yuck ewwww. It totally grosses me out to see when people suck on there cuts. shudder

Below are pictures of my top teeth. Again both are without aligners on. The one on the left is before invisalign and the one on the right is 24hours after putting in my 5th aligner. My twisted tooth on the left next to my front tooth is starting to twist straighter and the two teeth next to those teeth are starting to move more inward. I really feel the pressure on that second tooth on the right as its pushing that tooth inward and it really really hurts after I put the aligner back in. It should be better in the next day or so.

Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-42479219004020539662006-10-20T10:33:00.000-06:002006-10-20T19:09:05.757-06:00Me at work at 0500 after drinking a 4 shot keith richards mocha and off to do morning blood draws.

Good morning! Here is a pic of my lower aligners. The one on the right is my 1st lower aligner and the left one is my 4th. Sorry the quality suckith much.

Pedro at the invisalign factory did a poor job cutting around the inside front. Ouchie owie it cut the heck out of the underside of my tongue until I filed that area down.

This one is a little better. The top one is my 1st aligner and the one on the bottom is my 4th. Pedro has done an ok job with this tray. Maybe he has some anger issues. One person told me that Edro Pedro's evil twin trimmed her last one. hmmm

This is a picture of my before on my uppers. Not real u shaped and the tooth with the little dot filling is slightly twisted. Wow look at all that metal. I think when I am done I will start replacing them with tooth colored fillings.Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-1159321045927335002006-09-26T19:09:00.000-06:002006-10-10T22:02:32.277-06:00I found one good thing about not being able to snack. So far I've lost about 8-10 pounds. woo hooo. You really notice how much you normally snack when you no longer can. Now when I eat I make it count. Fill that tank all the way up because darn it I'm not taking these buggers out until I absolutely have to. So far I only eat two big meals a day but I drink alot.. of coffee. I'm really really bad on that. I figure I can just bleach them when I'm done. A few years back I got a bleaching tray and some syringes of bleach to go with it. I can just use my last tray to do it in since my bleaching trays will no longer fit when I'm done. I can just go back to that dentist and buy more syringes. They are about 25 for 3 or 4 syringes. My aligners I just soak in denture cleaner. Kinda embarassing to buy but it really cleans them.
Today it really is Tuesday the 26th. I just went to my orthodontist and had sanding done between 5-7 teeth on the top and the same amount on the bottom. It was a toe curling experience as I like to say. Then I got to put in #3 aligner and got the next 3 sets. My whole series is only 10 sets. I really feel for those who have 20+ sets.ewww
My orthodontist is a little concerned about some small gaps on the top of a couple of teeth on the bottom, but he thinks it hopefully will resolve itself. I ordered some aligner chewies to help push them closer to my teeth. They were really cheap, only 1.75 for a set of three and only cost 87 cents to ship. They look like little cotton rolls like what you get at the dentist to bite on only they are squishy. I've also had someone suggest a popsicle stick / tongue depressor. Which would be easy for me to find since I work at a hospital.

Aren't I pretty. Like I said I can't help myself. It's in my genes.
Imagine this coming at you at oh 3 in the morning at the hospital. "I said hold still and it wont hurt" "Don't make me stick you again". Yeah I've been called a vampire more times than I care to admit even though that is only a very small part of my job and only after the phlebotomist goes home. I like to say good morning now I need to stick you with a sharp metal stick and suck out some of your life fluid so I can bring it back to my lair to play with, hee hee heePennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-1159319326016487052006-09-26T18:56:00.000-06:002006-10-10T22:02:32.203-06:00
Here I am with my second aligner set in. I've managed to play with it with my tongue so much that I've tried sanding it down with a file and still can't get it to feel better. Oh much better and hey my lisp is gone.
Saw my orthodontist at back to school night. His daughter and mine go to the same school. Told him that I changed aligners and why. He told me to get a pair of scissors and just clip that area out between those molars and then file any rough edges. Did that when I got home and it made a huge difference. I've included a picture of myself with my second aligner.Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35066158.post-1159302161864543262006-09-26T14:12:00.000-06:002006-10-10T22:02:32.056-06:00This is the first time I've done this blogging this so please forgive me.
I call this "I'm gonna eat ya" It was taken before I got my first invisalign aligner. My top teeth aren't really that crooked except for the tooth on the left hand side with the little filling in it. I call that tooth "the food catcher" because it always seems to get food stuck in the front between it and my front tooth. Wow look at all the metal. My bottoms are quite a bit more crowded.
When my son got braces and he asked me if I was going to get braces also. I told him I was too old. This I got from the dentist I went to a few years before. I brought up braces with him and he basically said I was too old. I was only maybe 26-30, can't really remember. Then I started thinking that hey I'm not that old. I'm only 38. I've seen people older than myself with them. I asked his orthodontist about how much invisalign cost. He told me that they now have an express package that is almost half the cost of the full invisalign setup. I said I wanted to see if I qualified for the express because I didn't think I needed too much orthodontic work.
I had my impressions taken and he sent them off. It took two weeks but then my ortho heard back. Darn it, invisalign didn't like my top impression. Had to redo it and send it back in.
Finally came in. Dr Summers had to sand between about 8 teeth on the top and 8 on the bottom before he put the glue dabs on that hold the trays in. Oh my oh my did that hurt! He used this little strip of sandpaper and my teeth are very tight. I thought he was going to knock a couple out.
My teeth are very sore and stayed sore for about 7-8 days. I hated taking the trays out. No more snacking for me because its too much of a hassle to take out the aligners then eat and then put them back in. Didn't realize how much I snacked before. Oh well needed to lose about 20 pounds anyway.Pennyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01316801395977927354noreply@blogger.com1
