I found one good thing about not being able to snack. So far I've lost about 8-10 pounds. woo hooo. You really notice how much you normally snack when you no longer can. Now when I eat I make it count. Fill that tank all the way up because darn it I'm not taking these buggers out until I absolutely have to. So far I only eat two big meals a day but I drink alot.. of coffee. I'm really really bad on that. I figure I can just bleach them when I'm done. A few years back I got a bleaching tray and some syringes of bleach to go with it. I can just use my last tray to do it in since my bleaching trays will no longer fit when I'm done. I can just go back to that dentist and buy more syringes. They are about 25 for 3 or 4 syringes. My aligners I just soak in denture cleaner. Kinda embarassing to buy but it really cleans them.
Today it really is Tuesday the 26th. I just went to my orthodontist and had sanding done between 5-7 teeth on the top and the same amount on the bottom. It was a toe curling experience as I like to say. Then I got to put in #3 aligner and got the next 3 sets. My whole series is only 10 sets. I really feel for those who have 20+ sets.ewww
My orthodontist is a little concerned about some small gaps on the top of a couple of teeth on the bottom, but he thinks it hopefully will resolve itself. I ordered some aligner chewies to help push them closer to my teeth. They were really cheap, only 1.75 for a set of three and only cost 87 cents to ship. They look like little cotton rolls like what you get at the dentist to bite on only they are squishy. I've also had someone suggest a popsicle stick / tongue depressor. Which would be easy for me to find since I work at a hospital.

Aren't I pretty. Like I said I can't help myself. It's in my genes.
Imagine this coming at you at oh 3 in the morning at the hospital. "I said hold still and it wont hurt" "Don't make me stick you again". Yeah I've been called a vampire more times than I care to admit even though that is only a very small part of my job and only after the phlebotomist goes home. I like to say good morning now I need to stick you with a sharp metal stick and suck out some of your life fluid so I can bring it back to my lair to play with, hee hee hee

Here I am with my second aligner set in. Sorry a camera or a webcam pointed at me always brings out the best in me :). Say CHEEESSSEEE.
wow look at those shiny teeth

Here are my first two bottom aligners. The one on the top is my first and the one on the bottom is my second.

Here are my uppers. Again the one on the top is from aligner #1 and the bottome #2

I'm actually on my third set starting today but I'm going back in time to tell what happened two weeks ago here.
It's a Sunday and I'm not suppose to change aligner trays until Tuesday but my tongue next to the last two molars on my right side hurts. I've managed to play with it with my tongue so much that I've tried sanding it down with a file and still can't get it to feel better. Oh much better and hey my lisp is gone.
Saw my orthodontist at back to school night. His daughter and mine go to the same school. Told him that I changed aligners and why. He told me to get a pair of scissors and just clip that area out between those molars and then file any rough edges. Did that when I got home and it made a huge difference. I've included a picture of myself with my second aligner.
This is the first time I've done this blogging this so please forgive me.
I call this "I'm gonna eat ya" It was taken before I got my first invisalign aligner. My top teeth aren't really that crooked except for the tooth on the left hand side with the little filling in it. I call that tooth "the food catcher" because it always seems to get food stuck in the front between it and my front tooth. Wow look at all the metal. My bottoms are quite a bit more crowded.
When my son got braces and he asked me if I was going to get braces also. I told him I was too old. This I got from the dentist I went to a few years before. I brought up braces with him and he basically said I was too old. I was only maybe 26-30, can't really remember. Then I started thinking that hey I'm not that old. I'm only 38. I've seen people older than myself with them. I asked his orthodontist about how much invisalign cost. He told me that they now have an express package that is almost half the cost of the full invisalign setup. I said I wanted to see if I qualified for the express because I didn't think I needed too much orthodontic work.
I had my impressions taken and he sent them off. It took two weeks but then my ortho heard back. Darn it, invisalign didn't like my top impression. Had to redo it and send it back in.
Finally came in. Dr Summers had to sand between about 8 teeth on the top and 8 on the bottom before he put the glue dabs on that hold the trays in. Oh my oh my did that hurt! He used this little strip of sandpaper and my teeth are very tight. I thought he was going to knock a couple out.
My teeth are very sore and stayed sore for about 7-8 days. I hated taking the trays out. No more snacking for me because its too much of a hassle to take out the aligners then eat and then put them back in. Didn't realize how much I snacked before. Oh well needed to lose about 20 pounds anyway.
